Your design. Your board. Handcrafted by ReadyChessGo.

Terms & Conditions

Version: 2026-08-14

1. Who we are

These terms apply to orders placed through this site, operated by Ricky Ray Carpanini, trading as ReadyChessGO, a sole trader at 24 Murrain Drive, Downswood, Maidstone, Kent ME15 8XJ (“we”, “us”). Contact: readychessgo@gmail.com. We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.

2. These terms

By placing an order you agree to the version of these terms shown at checkout at the time — a copy is saved against your order, so it doesn't change under you later. “You” means the person placing the order.

3. Our products

Every chessboard is made to order, built to the wood, resin, and engraving specification you choose in our 3D configurator. The wood elements are laminate, not solid timber. Because each one is handmade to order:

  • Wood grain and resin colour will vary piece to piece and may differ from the on-screen preview — this is a normal feature of a handmade item, not a fault.
  • The on-screen preview is a close approximation of the finished piece, not an exact rendering.

This doesn't excuse genuine defects, incorrect materials, or a finished board that doesn't match the specification frozen on your order — see Section 8.

4. Placing an order and how a contract is formed

Adding a board to checkout and paying is an offer to buy. A contract between us is formed once your payment is confirmed by Stripe and you receive an order confirmation email — not before. We may occasionally have to decline or cancel an order (for example, if we can't safely source a material, or the engraving request is one we're not willing to produce — see Section 9); if that happens after payment, we'll refund you in full.

5. Price and payment

Prices are shown in GBP at checkout and are paid in full, upfront, by card via Stripe. We don't store your card details.

6. Delivery

We aim to dispatch orders within the timeframe shown at checkout or in your order confirmation — bespoke production takes longer than an off-the-shelf item, so please order with that in mind for any deadline. You can check your order's status at any time using the personal tracking link emailed to you. Once dispatched, we'll send you courier and tracking details. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. For orders delivered outside the UK, you're responsible for any customs duties or import taxes charged by your country.

7. Cancellations, returns, and your rights

Because every board is made to your specification (wood, resin, and any personalised engraving), it counts as bespoke/personalised goods. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, the standard 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised.

In practice:

  • You can cancel free of charge any time before we begin production — contact us as soon as possible.
  • Once production has started, we're unable to accept a change-of-mind cancellation, because the piece is already being built to your exact specification.

This doesn't affect your legal rights if something's actually wrong with your order — see Section 8.

8. If something's wrong

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be as described, fit for purpose, and of satisfactory quality. If your board arrives damaged, faulty, or doesn't match the specification frozen on your order, contact us at readychessgo@gmail.com with your order number and photos as soon as you can, and we'll put it right — by repair, replacement, or refund, as appropriate to the issue and how soon after delivery you tell us.

9. Engraving content

You're responsible for the accuracy of any text you ask us to engrave — we build to exactly what's entered at checkout. We may decline to engrave text that is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, or is offensive, and will contact you if that happens.

10. Our liability

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or acting negligently, but we're not responsible for losses that aren't foreseeable, or for indirect or business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Our liability for a given order is capped at the price you paid for it.

11. Intellectual property

The site's design, content, and the board designs and configurator itself belong to us. Nothing here transfers ownership of that to you.

12. Complaints and disputes

If something's gone wrong, email us first at readychessgo@gmail.com and we'll do our best to sort it out. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — meaning you're also free to bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK you live in.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time; the version that applies to your order is the one shown and saved at the time you check out.
